If we would have to synthesize the product development of KDG (or Kinetic Development Group) it would be, in our opinion, ingenious problem solving through precise engineering. This is what we think of their products and solutions.

Kinetic Development Group Sidelok Modular Optic Mount

smom-3os-small Kinetic Development Group has once again brought a much needed solution to the market through the Sidelok line. This latest addition allows the user to quickly change optics throughout various weapon platforms with ease and without losing accuracy.

The new KDG Modular Optic Mount is based off the proven Sidelok family of quick detach optic mounts, and features the same user-friendly, toolless design. KDG set out to design a Sidelok mount for all common, tube-style optics that will offer more user-configurable options than what is currently available from competing QD mounts. The Modular Optic Mount currently comes in three configurations, with ring sizes for 1”, 30mm and 34mm tubes.

smom-2os-small The mount is offered with a user removable cantilever bar, in which the rings securely mount. This bar runs parallel to the weapon’s bore, and is ideal for all semi and fully automatic carbines, rifles and DM style firearms. KDG plans to release a separate 20 MOA bar in the future, for those that might require the added elevation for particular optic or application.

The matched front and rear rings are CNC machined, and wire EDM cut to be as precisely concentric as possible. The upper and lower ring remain matched for the duration of its production, and feature witness marks for assembly in the form of recessed dots. This allows the user to match the proper ring to its base, and ensure the mount is as truly aligned as possible. The rings themselves can be adjusted forward or back to the user’s preference, to avoid interference with large front objective bells, turret adjustment knobs, and rear magnification adjustment collars. The rings themselves bolt into a track system to facilitate this adjustment. The same track system allows the user to purchase and install separate rings in the future, should they decide to change to an optic with a larger or smaller diameter tube. This feature will save the shooter or organization money, as the majority of cost is in the base of the unit.

smom-1os-small The SMOM is available for three different scope diameters: 34mm, 30mm, 1″.

Kinetic Development Group | 2015 Update

Kinetic Development Group has been releasing a lot of great new products in the last few months. They have been focusing mainly on the FNH Herstal SCAR platform, diversifying from most of the other firearm accessories manufacturers on the market. We have already introduced you to the SCAR Adaptable Stock (SAS) a few months ago. Since then KDG has released  some other interesting products both for the SCAR and AR platform (technically any platform thanks to the Magpul M-LOK system [Read our article]). They started by providing the FN SCAR operator an alternative extended aluminum rail system that would provide the same customization and attachment options as most ARs do, this is the MREX (Modular Receiver EXtention).

KDG has also released in the past few moths a new mounting system based on the M-Lok platform: the Kinect QD. This line of Quick-Detach mounts allows the operator to change and swap accessories on the weapon within seconds.  There are two spring-loaded wedges in the base of the Kinect™ mounting point. When you press the accessory or rail section down in the MLOK™ slot, two tiny deployment triggers get pressed against the rail firing the wedges into place. There is nothing more frustrating that fiddling with an allen wrench (if you can find it) to get your accessories on an off your weapon with traditional modular rail sections. This changes the whole dynamic of the MLOK™ system and really makes every accessory truly removable with the ability to mount it in a second when needed. Due to the high quality materials and engineering skills this system does not fear recoil or hard use.

The last product line KDG has released is the Sidelock Optic Mounts. The first one to arrive on the market was designed for the Aimpoint Comp M4. The patented cam system locks the mount down onto picatinny without the need of tools, side levers, or huge knobs. The release system allows users to change out their optics on the fly with less hassle. The 3 levels of locks insure the optic will not move unintentionally, maintaining zero for the shooter, and returning to zero when remounting in the same position after removal. They have now released two other optics mounts: the Sidelock Universal Scope Riser (that features a plain 1913 rail system) and the Sidelock Aimpoint Micro Mount.

Kinetic Development Group | SCAR Adaptable Stock

The new Kinetic SAS kit takes the amazing Magpul designed Masada (ACR-E) stock system and allow for direct use with your SCAR platform rifle. Stock ships fully assembled with SCAR adapter for drop in use.

KDG-ACRdemo_09SMALL Just a few months ago, Kinetic Development Group launched its company with the promise to bring solutions to the small arms market existing with high quality firearms. They started with the FN SCAR as many SCARs are deployed with our Special Operations Forces. They also recognize the 16S and 17S are increasingly popular with American shooters and law enforcement.

Their first products, the MREX (modular rail extensions) for the front end of the SCAR has been very popular. The KDG front and rear sling points have also brought the SCAR into the year 2015 as far as QD sling solutions go. Well, they have just addressed another common complaint about SCAR. Some refer to it as the SCAR’s “UGG Boot” like stock system.

KDG SAS kits come standard with 7 positions of length adjustment, cheek weld height adjustment, an AMBI QD sling attachment point, a weatherproof battery compartment, and a side-folding feature. Like the factory stock, the weapon can be fired with the stock folded. KDG also added an optional set-screw to allow users the option to eliminate any play between the stock and receiver.

The stock and adapter comes fully assembled from KDG. There are no tools required to install on your SCAR! The whole system retails for $299.00 and can be purchased at www.kineticdg.com or a dealer listed near you found on their website.www.kinetidg.com/dealers
